packing list for vacation

Preparing for a trip can be a daunting task, but with the right knowledge and a few helpful tips, you can make it a breeze! First, consider the type of trip you are taking and the things you will need. Make sure to buy the right travel accessories such as the best carry on and travel luggage sets to fit your needs.

Make a list of things to pack for a vacation. With these tips, you can be sure that you're fully prepared for your upcoming trip!

1.Passport/Real ID:

If you are traveling internationally, you must have proper travel documents excluding for cruises that begin at and return to the same U.S. Port. U.S. Citizens must have a valid passport. Real ID compliance varies greatly from state to state. I encourage travelers to seek information directly from the TSA at or their local DMV. See requirements at U.S. Customs Border Protections or for a new passport request visit, U.S. Department of State.

2. Books to read: Choose a few books or novels that you've been meaning to read. They can keep you entertained during the flight or while relaxing by the pool or beach. Or download E-books from Kindle: If you prefer digital reading, load up your Kindle or e-reader with a variety of e-books. This way, you'll have a wide selection to choose from without the added weight of physical books. Most flights offer Wi-Fi but be prepared for issues with the Wi-Fi therefore, I recommend that you download your reading material prior to take off.

3. Water shoes are a must for a beach packing list. If you’re planning on participating in water activities like snorkeling, kayaking, or beach walks, it's a good idea to bring water shoes. They provide protection and grip on slippery or rocky surfaces. Amazon has some great options with fast shipping, buy water shoes

4. Light carry-on luggage: Opt for a lightweight carry-on bag that is easy to maneuver and meets airline restrictions. Look for one with multiple compartments for better organization and easy access to essential items. Like this 2 piece luggage set by Level 8

5.  A travel camera is a fantastic item to bring along on your travels, as it allows you to capture and preserve your memories in a professional visual form. Here are some considerations when choosing a camera for travel.  Perhaps look for one that has compact size, versatile, image quality, ease of use, and battery life. It's also a good idea to carry spare batteries or a portable charger  to keep in the water proof protective camera case to ensure you don't run out of power or lose your camera. Last, consider durability if you're planning on engaging in adventurous activities or visiting rugged environments.

In addition to these specific items, here s my full list of suggestions for your vacation packing list:

  • Comfortable clothing suitable for the weather and activities
  • Swimwear and beach towels
  • Sunscreen and sun protection (hat, sunglasses and don’t forget the 3 oz liquid rule for carry-ons)
  • Toiletries (toothbrush, toothpaste, shampoo, etc.)
  • Medications, if needed. On this note, does someone in your party have special needs are potentially prone to injury or a health condition? Medical insurance alone may not cover for events that occur outside of the U.S. Consider adding travel insurance to cover for unexpected expenses from a medical event.
  • Travel adapter and chargers for electronic devices
  • Snacks and a reusable water bottle for the journey- remember, liquids must be in a 3 oz or smaller bottle for the airline.
  • Camera and camera bags or smartphone for capturing memories. Purchase a camera for travel here.
  • Travel documents (passport, ID, travel insurance, itinerary, download docs to your mobile device)

Remember to pack according to the specific requirements and limitations of your chosen airline, and consider the length of your vacation to determine the quantity of clothing and other essentials you'll need.
